. rupert murdoch arrived in london meeting with the chief executive of his newspaper division, rebekah brooks, headed up "news of the world" and murdoch is publicly backing her, insisting she didn't know what was happening. the final edition of the paper was published yesterday. 5 million copies were printed, that's nearly twice the usual run. the paper also issued a full page apology. dan rivers is live in london this morning with more on this. a lot of people wanted to get their hands on that final edition. >> yeah. it's ironic, isn't it? a paper that has been the subject of such revulsion here, and public outcry, when they announced they were putting out that final edition they had to double the print run, such was the demand. i suppose many think of it going to be a piece of history, really. it's been going for 168 years. it is an institution here. now news perhaps victims of 9/11 could also have been targeted by the illegal practices of the "news of the world," hacking into their phones. this has not been confirmed by cnn. this is coming from a newspaper here, a rival tabloid, "th

stephenson, has resigned. meanwhile, the former chief executive of news international, of rupert murdoch's paper, rebecca brooks, was taken in for questioning, detained some 12 hours sunday night and released just after midnight. there was speculation that would have meant that she wouldn't have turned up on tuesday afternoon, london time, to be grilled by politicians. but we're being told by her spokesman that she will be there. she won't appear together with james and rupert murdoch. she'll appear after them. she'll have to be careful about what she says and the politicians, equally, have said they'll be careful about which questions they ask and how they frame those questions. they don't want to clearly prejudice any possible trial that may come out of this. it will be a committee session view bid millions of people, i would expect, with lots of people wanting to know who knew what, how high up the newspaper group into rupert murdoch's empire this scandal went. kyra? >> cnn will have live coverage of tomorrow's expected testimony by brooks, rupert murdo kr. h and his son, james. it's

. rupert murdoch made a bold move in shutting the paper down. >> this is the big question. there are a lot ever reports that rupert murdoch is on his way to london here. not only to handle the "news of the world" closure, but the biggest prize in the media empire is his takeover bid for british broadcaster, b sky b. the takeover bid is now in danger because of the hacking scandal. the government needs to approve the takeover and say they want to look at the phone hacking scandal before they approve the deal. that could scuttle the deal. and it's possible that murdoch will be coming over here to handle it. the very fact that "news of the world" has had to be closed doesn't look good on news international and they have to try to stem the problem where it stands and hope it doesn't spread to any other parts of their media empire. >> thank you, i bet it will sell a lot today. saying thank you and good-bye, appreciate it. >>> a new study just released that exposes the truth about what makes men three times happier in relationships. guess what, it's not sex. ♪ ♪ look at that car, well, it go
